NEW Global Health Data Exchange (GHDx)
The Global Health Data Exchange (GHDx)
The GHDx contains information about over 7,000 demographic, public health and global health data sources. It was developed by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, and launched in March 2011 at the Global Health Metrics and Evaluations conference. The GHDx was created to address a key issue for global and public health analysis, which is a lack of both knowledge about data and access to data. The GHDx is the first – and currently the only – data catalog that focuses on health-related data on a global scale. The catalog contains information about surveys, censuses, vital registration, disease registries, health statistical yearbooks, administrative data and much more.
The GHDx aims to:
- Make global and public health data easier to find
- Bring increased attention to the valuable contributions of data producers such as national statistics agencies, ministries of health, and international organizations
