Many important activities are currently underway for TEPHINET and this edition of TEPHINEWS is the perfect opportunity to highlight some of our most recent accomplishments as well as our upcoming events. Last month, we had a very successful International Night at the 61st Annual Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Conference. The quality of the abstracts submitted and presented at International Night clearly demonstrated the growing strength of the TEPHINET network and it has, once again, confirmed the undeniable benefit of the CDC -TEPHINET partnership and the alliance of the field epidemiology programs.
This year also marks a special occasion for TEPHINET as we celebrate our 15th anniversary. Established in 1997, TEPHINET was founded with the intent to help strengthen international public health capacity through the support of field-based training programs in applied epidemiology and public health practice. In 2012, TEPHINET strives to seek and achieve innovative ways to uphold its mission. One innovative approach is our communications system in which we have made significant improvements. Our website now has more than 2000 online members and over 2100 visits per month.
In regards to our upcoming activities, we are preparing for TEPHINET’s 7th Global Scientific Conference to be held in Amman, Jordan on November 10 -15, 2012. We are also working intensively to launch the pilot phase of the program accreditation process.
As always, TEPHINET secretariat will continue to make every effort to meet the challenges and expectations of the network. We appreciate your support.
