Fighting Viral Hepatitis in Pakistan
Project Objective
To support Pakistan’s efforts in reaching the World Health Organization's 2030 hepatitis elimination target through interventions and reforms in how the provinces in Pakistan are implementing hepatitis control and prevention. The overall objectives of the program are to: 1) screen, test and treat HCV infection; 2) build health system capacity; 3) institutionalize communication strategies for improving health literacy and awareness; and 4) monitor and evaluate the program. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and TEPHINET have a longstanding partnership with the Pakistan Ministry of Health and the Pakistan Medical Research Council since 2009 and have been providing technical assistance to prevent and control viral hepatitis in Pakistan since then. Pakistan’s FELTP has been heavily involved with all hepatitis activities in the country. This project will utilize FELTP graduates as well as regional FELTP students.
