Investigations Leptospirosis in Wonogiri, 2011


Background: In early May 2011 there were 4 patients with leptospirosis reported to the District Health Office,Wonogiri, Central Java, with a case fatality rate 50 percent. The patients lived in 3 districts, namely 2 persons in Tirtomoyo, 1 person in Ngadirojo and another person in Baturetno. Epidemiological investigations were carried out to describe the potential sources and modes of transmission, so that control efforts could be established immediately. Method: The study was observational with cross sectional and continuing with the case control study. The number of samples of 9 cases and 18 controls with a ratio of 1:2. Tracking the focus on Hamlet Klampis, Sendangmulyo Village, District Tirtomoyo. The case originated from patients who were reported by the Department of Health and the results of active case finding in the field that showed positive IgM antileptospira.
