Maria Concepcion (Conchy) Roces

Technical Officer, South Asia Field Epidemiology and Technology Network

Conchy is currently a Technical Officer of the South Asia Field Epidemiology and Technology Network (SAFETYNET). She is a graduate of the Philippine Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and previously served as an FETP training officer and program manager as well as Director of the National Epidemiology Center. After leaving the Department of Health, she has worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as consultant to Ministries of Health (mostly in the Asia Pacific region) on building capacity for surveillance and outbreak response including the development of applied or field epidemiology training programs. She also was a resident advisor for the Cambodian Applied Epidemiology Training program (a modified FETP).

In 1999-2000, Conchy served as the Western Pacific Regional representative to the TEPHINET Steering Committee and from 2002-2003 served as regional representative to the TEPHINET Board and Chair of the Quality Improvement Working Group. In 2017, she was a member of the TEPHINET accreditation review team.
