Martyn Kirk

Professor Martyn Kirk is a professor of applied epidemiology and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Fellow at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. Previously, Prof. Kirk ran the Australian Field Epidemiology Training Program—the Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) program—that teaches people how to investigate outbreaks and establish public health surveillance. Prof. Kirk is internationally recognized for surveillance and investigation of outbreaks of food-borne diseases, including those crossing country borders. Prof. Kirk is regularly consulted by the World Health Organization and national and state governments regarding the epidemiology of disease clusters and outbreaks, and is a Food Standards Australia New Zealand Fellow.
