The TEPHINET Advisory Scientific Committee (TASC) invites trainees and graduates of field-based training programs in applied epidemiology, veterinary, laboratory, and public health practice to submit abstracts (in English only) for consideration for presentation at the 11th TEPHINET Global Scientific Conference to be held in Panama City, Panama, from September 4-9, 2022.
The deadline to submit abstracts is May 2, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
For full instructions, please see the "Call for Abstracts" attachment in the Attachments section below.
Abstracts should cover investigations or projects undertaken and completed during training and within the past three years (no earlier than May 2019). In particular, abstracts should emphasize how the results of the investigation or an analysis were used to direct public health actions and also describe or estimate the public health impact.
Abstracts should describe outbreak investigations, implementation and evaluation of public health programs or surveillance activities, non-communicable diseases, or other areas of applied epidemiology or public health practice.
The information contained in the abstract cannot have already been published in a peer-reviewed journal or previously accepted and presented to an international conference (including TEPHINET global and regional conferences).
Because of limited space for presentations and a desire to maintain high quality of submissions and broad regional representation, a maximum number of abstracts has been determined for any single program. To view the number of submissions allowed per program, please see the "Call for Abstracts" attachment in the Attachments section below.
Note on submission process: Abstracts for the general oral and poster sessions must be submitted by a program's director (or his/her delegate). Individual authors may not submit abstracts directly to TEPHINET and should contact their program director if they are interested in submitting an abstract. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Abstracts for the special alumni oral presentation session may be submitted by individual authors. Please see more information in the call for abstracts document below.
For questions on this process, please contact abstracts@tephinet.org.
