TEPHINET is pleased to announce the opportunity for current residents and graduates of intermediate and advanced field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) to submit Letters of Intent (LOIs) for project proposals related to two topic areas in non-communicable disease (NCD) field epidemiology: 1) cancer and 2) cardiovascular disease/Global Hearts Initiative.
Grants will be awarded for non-research investigations focused on either surveillance, program evaluation, or public health activities. Specifically, proposed projects should focus on:
- Piloting a surveillance system; or
- Evaluating a surveillance system; or
- Analyzing surveillance or related data; or
- Implementing and evaluating prevention efforts.
Small grants awarded for projects related to cancer are expected to be around $15,000 (USD) and will be funded through the generous support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Global Health.
Small grants awarded for projects related to cardiovascular disease/Global Hearts Initiative are expected to be around $5,000 (USD) and will be funded through the generous support of the CDC Foundation and the Global Non-communicable Disease branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
These are maximum amounts; final awards may be made for less than these amounts. All grant awards are contingent upon receipt of funding from associated donors. This announcement does not make any implicit or explicit guarantee of awards against LOIs/proposals submitted.
The implementation period for all projects proposed under the 2019-2020 cycle of the Small Grants Program (formerly known as the Mini-grant Program) will be a maximum of eight months, to be initiated and completed during the period December 15, 2019 to August 28, 2020.
