
Olivia Namusisi Kasenge
Regional Technical Coordinator, East Africa Region, African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET)
Dr. Olivia Namusisi Kasenge is the African Field Epidemiology Network’s (AFENET’s) Regional Technical Coordinator for the East Africa Region providing oversight to the field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) and other projects within the region. She also serves as AFENET’s representative on the TEPHINET Accreditation Working Group as well as supports quality improvement initiatives for the FETPs in Africa.
She has several years of experience working with applied epidemiology training programs in Africa, in epidemiological research, investigating and responding to epidemics, and implementing community-based interventions.
Dr. Olivia previously served as the Director of Programs of AFENET from 2008 to 2017, where she supervised 32 Member Countries and 16 Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programs (FELTPS). She supervised all project activities, faculty and mentors of FELTP residents, among other duties. She also served as acting Executive Director of AFENET from June 2016 to August 2017.
Dr. Olivia was among the founding staff of AFENET, which was established in 2005 as a non-profit organization and networking alliance of African Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs (FELTPs), and other applied epidemiology training programs.
