Strengthening Public Health Laboratory and Surveillance Systems in the Dominican Republic
Project objective: To determine the prevalence of microcephaly during the Zika epidemic, to identify neurological damage and learning problems in the first 18 months after birth, and to evaluate surveillance of Zika and other arboviruses. A full evaluation report was developed on the national surveillance system and presented at the National Conference on Epidemiology. In addition, a guidance document was created as well as a training for DIGEPI staff.
