Support the Sara Lowther Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) Memorial Fund

TEPHINET is pleased to share information about an opportunity to help honor the memory and contributions to public health of Sara Lowther, who, when she passed away, was the acting lead of the Epidemiology Technical Support Unit for the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) Team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Sara was passionate about FETP as a means to develop and mentor young field epidemiologists around the world and build global field epidemiology capacity.

The Sara Lowther Memorial Fund, managed by the CDC Foundation, will support an award for an FETP fellow or recent graduate to conduct a project that makes significant contributions to infectious disease prevention and control in their country. This award will be presented annually at International Night during the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) conference.

On behalf of the CDC Foundation, we invite you to make a gift to honor Sara’s service and help support FETP fellows. The organizers of the Sara Lowther Memorial Fund are hoping to raise $5,000 by September 30, 2020 to establish the award and $50,000 overall to enable the CDC Foundation to make this an endowed fund to ensure sustainability of the award in the future.
