Summary

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the case study the participants should be able to: ·

  • Select appropriate graphical mode to present data,
  • Create graphs,
  • Describe trends of selected diseases over time, and
  • Suggest appropriate explanation for particular trends.    

During the exercise, the participants will be divided in 6 groups. Each group will be assigned one disease (Disease A, C, D, E, F, or G). For each disease, most of the following data are shown in pages 4–19: incidence, mortality, case fatality, distribution of cases by age groups and seasonal distribution.

  • Disease A: page 4 to 6
  • Disease C: page 7 to 9
  • Disease D: page 10 to 12
  • Disease E: page 13 to 14
  • Disease F: page 15 to 17
  • Disease G: page 18 to 19

Each group will draw the following graphs or charts for their assigned disease, using appropriate graph scales and type of graphics. Please note that complete data are not available for all diseases.
