Summary

Understanding the fundamentals of epidemiology: an evolving text consists of 18 chapters and nine problem sets ("assignments"), with solutions. Each section is in Portable Document Format (PDF) for viewing or printing with Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or higher. Chapters are approximately 80-320 kb; assignments are 7-78 kb. If the Table of Contents page, chapters, and assignments are stored in the same folder, the user can link to individual chapters by using the hyperlinks in the Table of Contents. The text is also available as a single 3 mb pdf file, in which chapter titles in the table of contents link to the appropriate pages.  Although there is no index, Acrobat has a "find" command with several searching options, which can be used to locate words or phrases within the file. These materials were created for a graduate level course (Fundamentals of Epidemiology - EPID 168, Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) for epidemiology majors and other students interested in conducting, collaborating in, or using the results of epidemiologic studies.
