TEPHINET is pleased to announce the signing of a five-year MOU with our longtime partner, EMPHNET, focused on strengthening field epidemiology capacities and accelerating progress towards the recommendations of the Global Field Epidemiology Roadmap.

Founded in 2009, EMPHNET is the regional network of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) in the Eastern Mediterranean focused on strengthening public health systems in the region.

The purpose of this MOU is to advance the collaborative ideas and objectives of both networks with regards to achieving the recommendations of the Roadmap. TEPHINET and EMPHNET share common goals related to developing field epidemiology human resource capacity through FETPs, implementing epidemiological surveillance activities, promoting networking opportunities to further program development, and identifying synergies.

Among other areas, TEPHINET and EMPHNET will collaborate in developing and implementing projects related to epidemiological, laboratory, and One Health surveillance and response to public health challenges, promote FETP quality assurance, ensure a well-trained and professional global field epidemiology workforce, train FETP alumni to mobilize as outbreak responders, facilitate knowledge exchange, and advocate for field epidemiology within health and non-health sectors.

TEPHINET looks forward to continuing our collaboration with EMPHNET to achieve the goals of the Roadmap and to implementing similar MOUs with other regional FETP networks in the future.
