The Second National Conference for the Iraq Field Epidemiology Training Program "Applied Epidemiology, Today's Challenges and Tomorrow's Horizons"

The Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) has launched its Second National Conference for the Iraqi Field Epidemiology Training Program (Iraq FETP). The conference will be held from March 23-March 24, 2016, in Baghdad, Iraq.

This conference presents a valuable opportunity for field epidemiologists and public health professionals to share knowledge and experiences. It is an important platform for maximizing skills among field epidemiologists working to serve Iraq. It brings the work of many Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) residents and graduates into the spotlight, which is often valuable payback for the hard work and dedication of the valued FETPs in Iraq.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Applied Epidemiology, Today’s Challenges and Tomorrow’s Horizons.” Within this theme, the conference agenda will draw on several issues that are of concern to Iraq while also pinning down those difficult and atypical situations that exclusively challenge the county.

Topics addressed during the conference include:

  • Applied Epidemiology of Communicable Disease
  • Applied Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Disease
  • Injury Surveillance
  • Nutritional and Child Health
  • Other Public Health Issues

The event will present opportunities for participants to learn and to share experiences, concerns, and recommendations. The agenda will include roundtables and oral presentations conducted by Iraq’s epidemiologists.

For those interested in participating in the conference, abstracts submission will be open from February 4-March 5, 2016.

Abstracts should be submitted online through the conference website. There, you will find more information about registration, abstract submission, and other event details.
