Thomas Waite is co-director of the UK Field Epidemiology Training Programme and a consultant epidemiologist with the National Infection Service of Public Health England (PHE). He has worked with PHE since 2013, most recently as head of their Extreme Event and Health Protection team. Since September 2018 Dr. Waite has been working with PHE’s International Health Regulation Strengthening programme, partnering with colleagues in Ethiopia to provide expertise on strengthening of surveillance and epidemiological capacity there. He is an alumnus of the UK Field Epidemiology Training Programme, during which time he conducted projects in the UK and Indonesia as well as at WHO Geneva.
Dr. Waite studied Medicine at the Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff and has completed postgraduate study in Medical Education, Public Health and Medical Toxicology. He is a Member of the UK Faculty of Public Health.
