Honduras Field Epidemiology Training Program

Program overview

In 2001, the Ministry of Health of Honduras integrated the Field Epidemiology Training Program into its organizational structure, with the objective of developing knowledge, skills and abilities among health professionals in epidemiological alerts to respond to health threats, research, response, information analysis, prevention and control of diseases or other health events at the local, intermediate and national levels.

Achievements

As of December 2021, a total of 505 health professionals have been trained, integrating professionals from the areas of medicine, nursing, microbiology, journalists and educators; those who have participated in disease outbreaks investigations, planned investigations related to essential activities, and those involved in priority projects of the Ministry of Health at the local, departmental and national levels.
