Hong Kong Field Epidemiology Training Program

Program overview

The Hong Kong Field Epidemiology Training Program (HKFETP) started in 2004. This two-year training in applied epidemiology covers surveillance, risk assessment, data analysis and rapid response to public health events. Trainees have to achieve all competencies required by the program and meet with trainers regularly for review and evaluation throughout the program’s duration.

Since the program’s inception, trainees of HKFETP have presented at scientific conferences, assisted with outbreak investigations, evaluated surveillance systems, been published in journals, and developed protocols for outbreak investigations.
